Each month we celebrate our culture heroes. Culture heroes are given the ethos award by their peers during our fortnightly team meeting. Then here on the blog, we give them a shoutout and ask them a few questions about what it’s like working remotely for In Marketing We Trust.

Derek Rowe

Today we are celebrating Derek Rowe who’s recognised for his ability to independently work together.

What is your best advice for working independently together in the workplace (to the point of being recognised for this superpower)?

Independently Together: Working remotely can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation. I try to operate in a way that helps my peers feel important, valued, and liked – checking in on someone randomly to see how they are, asking for help and insights with something I need to improve, finding an opportunity to laugh together to help levitate the emotions of a busy and stressful day.

Any tips for keeping yourself focused and delivering great results while working from home?

To stay focused and productive while working from home, I eliminate potential distractions the evening before so they don’t creep into the following day – my home is in order, my meals are prepped, I’m up to date on my personal tasks, etc.

Could you briefly describe your main tasks and responsibilities?

I am a Commercial Manager in APAC responsible for identifying and progressing suitable new business opportunities.

How do you manage to juggle so many responsibilities and deadlines?

I start my mornings early. My most productive hours are the early ones when my mind is fresh and free of distractions.

Derek Rowe Culture HeroesI review my task lists each morning and set an agenda and priorities for my day. I try to complete my work comfortably ahead of deadlines. Good habits with diet, exercise, and sleep also help keep me in a headspace.

Why do you like working at In Marketing We Trust?

I like the people of In Marketing We Trust. The people we work with have a tremendous impact on our sense of well-being at work. In Marketing We Trust has done a phenomenal job attracting and retaining great people.
