Expert SEO Advice Yeezy.com
4 min read

Last week Ye (AKA Kanye West) posted on Instagram to his over 20 Million followers that

“When you Google Yeezy.com the adidas site comes before the Yeezy site.”

He went on to say

Members at adidas Stop doing this  Stop doing your moves to hold me back  Our partnership is done  You’re a 60 billion dollar company that froze my accounts  Now I’m back on my feet (no pun intended) and I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again)

SEO exchange with Kanye West

Okay you caught us. The original IG post from Kanye is legit (too legit to quit) but the replies from Adidas, Google and In Marketing We Trust may be fake (don’t hate the game).

Here’s the original screen shot of the REAL Kanye IG post.

While the exchange between us and Kanye might not be real, the advice is.

SEO Advice for Ye and Yeezy.com

Here’s a few simple tips to get Ye started and make the Google Gods happy(ier).

1. First and foremost, there’s no title tag listed. This is an easy fix.

2. There’s no focus keyword found in the title tag. Okay so Ye might be going for “cool” over Googleable but that’s a mistake. Make sure your target keyword is in the title tag (the brand you’re trying to rank for).

3. The title tag is also too short. While YZY alone stands out in the search results, the backlink profile is simply not strong enough for the site to rank for the term “yeezy”.

4. The website needs a relevant and search engine optimised meta description with the target keyword included. Currently there’s nothing.

5. Place your target keyword in your headers. Currently <h2>Total</h2> is the first “seen” keyword on the page.

6. Get more backlinks specific to the brand to boost your profile. This shouldn’t be difficult with the PR Ye and Yeezy.com are getting.

7. Create some content. The content length is “0”. This is clearly a feature of the site but Google can’t read nothing.

8. Add text (with keywords) to the alt tags of the images so there’s something Google can actually read.

These are all simple fixes for a big problem. While some suggest that Ye can do no wrong and he’s simply betting on the algorithm putting him in the top spot with his followers Googling Yeezy.com and clicking on the link (yes clicks are part of the algorithm) there’s still a lot more to do.
